IPEC - Legal English: Corso Preparazione Esame C1

CORSO PER LA PREPARAZIONE DELL'ESAME IPEC - LEGAL ENGLISH MODULE
IPEC EXAM IPEC Excellence Level,   Council of Europe C1 Effective Proficiency Level

The aim of the course is specifically to prepare students for the Excellence Level of the IPEC (International Professional English Certificate) exam. It is assumed that Students will have been prepared to C1 Effective Proficiency Level in terms of general linguistic competence. During the course, emphasis will be given to students' ability to understand and use English in legal contexts, rather than their knowledge of legal practice.

Developed in close collaboration with the British Chamber of Commerce for Italy and used as external certification by students attending university law courses, the Legal English Module, pitched at the Council of Europe's C1 level, has established itself firmly as a key element of the BCCI's range of examinations in just a few short years. Like the Professional English examinations, it is a 4-skills examination assessing listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, and it is equally up-to-date and stimulating, attractively presented with high quality audio materials.

wednesday March 20th, wednesday July 10th, wednesday November 20th

PROGRAMMA

The course will concentrate on the component parts of the IPEC exam, namely Reading/Use of English, Listening and Speaking and will be divided into the principal areas set out above for Executive Level, but the following will be assumed:

 

   the students will already have full control of the grammatical exponents described for the lower level
  
     
   they will use lexis more flexibly and precisely
  
     
   they will have a wider range of appropriate exponents of language functions available
  

 

An overview of the following legal topics will be given to provide Students with the relevant vocabulary and terminology in English:

COMMON LAW - LAW OF CONTRACT AND COMMERCIAL LAW
COMPANY LAW - BUSINESS ENTITIES - INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW
CIVIL LAW AND PROCEDURE - CRIMINAL LAW AND PROCEDURE - DISCRIMINATION
